One of the problems faced by many working parents these days is the all important one of actually finding the time to spend with the family.
Sisters Lucy Jones and Kirsty Best own and manage Absolute Care Wales, a domiciliary care company looking after elderly and vulnerable in Cardiff. They are also both mums to young children and finding the time for their families and business can often become quite a juggling act especially when they are providing care around the clock every day of the year.
Lucy Jones, director explains, ”Even though I have a very supportive partner who also runs his own business, there are always jobs to be done in the home like the cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing, shopping etc and trying to do these whilst also spending quality time with our little girl who is now 18months old is not only difficult but you are also exhausted and sometimes struggle to find the energy.”
“When we were discussing (having a moan!) about this in the office, one of our senior carers commented that we could all do with a genie, someone who could help out around the house to give us more time with our families.”
“The penny dropped and we realised that our own team of trained and qualified carers would be perfect to provide such a service. We undertake similar tasks on a daily basis for our elderly and vulnerable clients and thought we could utilise them to provide home support services for new and busy families in the Cardiff and Newport areas.”
Absolute Genie was set up as a sister company to Absolute Care Wales in 2010. The new service is used by a wide range of people from expectant to recent mums, families with more than one young child through to older people who aren’t as mobile as they used to be.
The service aims to provide as much help as is needed around the house to give customers more precious family time. Every customer has a different set of requirements and Lucy and Kirsty have made it their business to be as flexible as possible to accommodate for this. The Genie’s visit some customers once or twice a week, others on a monthly basis and support them all with a wide variety of home support services.
In Newport, the Absolute Genie customers work in the Royal Gwent, solicitor practices, dental surgeries, in sales roles involving a lot oftravelling to name a few. The client list is quite diverse and they areemployed by single dad’s as well.
Concluding, Lucy said, “In Britain we have one of the longest working week’s in Europe. We want to offer a service that will help customers to utilise the time they have off from work to spend it with their families instead of doing household chores. Working parents have a lot of responsibilities both in the office and at home, Absolute Genie aims to support them as much as possible in their homes.”
We are delighted to announce that this year thanks to the hard work and dedication of our fantastic team we received another positive report and an improvement on last year.
Having been a client for the past eighteen months under the care of Absolute Care (Wales) Ltd, I hasten to recommend this worthy company.
Absolute Care has many positive attributes but the one I value most is trust.
